The Strangers are a Calgary-based jazz combo bringing together swing, bebop, funk, and fusion. What started from a simple jazz jam and a shared desire to connect people through music has grown into a group shaped by five musicians with very different influences — from classic jazz and blues to rock, indie, city pop, and modern fusion.

🎻 Beau McCartney — Bass

Classically and jazz trained, Beau has performed across a wide range of styles, including jazz, funk, country, and metal. His playing is strongly influenced by jazz fusion, funk, and rock, with inspiration from bassists such asJaco PastoriusandJoe Dart.

🎸 Deklan — Guitar

A co-founding member of The Strangers and a jazz student at the University of Calgary, Deklan draws inspiration from rock, jazz, fusion, and Japanese city pop, bringing a distinctive mix of textures and influences…
